The Chicago Bears: An Unmitigated Disaster

The Chicago Bears: An Unmitigated Disaster

The NFL season is officially underway again and it has not disappointed. However, if you happen to be a fan of the team from the Windy City you will be very disappointed. The Chicago Bears have been the most pathetic team in football 4 weeks in. They’re winless so far and all their losses have been pretty painful. The Bears actually were expected to be somewhat decent this year as their QB Justin Fields was expected to take the leap into stardom. So far that could not be farther from the truth.

Fields has honestly regressed from his form last season. Which has been a major disappointment. Fields has struggled to read the field so far this season and has honestly cost the Bears some games. Especially their game against Tampa, Fields played an awful game against the Bucs in a game that was very winnable for the Bears. But Fields is not the only issue. The O-line has not been good at all and the defense has been absolutely awful. The coaching has been very questionable as well, they are failing to use Justin Fields effectively as a runner. Fields is an absolute electric athlete in the open field and for some reason the Bears are not using that as a weapon. Back to the defense though, they’ve been awful. Their embarrassments against the Chiefs and Broncos being the lowlights of the defense. Especially the Broncos game, against Denver Justin Fields actually had an amazing game but the defense could not stop one of the most pitiful offenses in the league. The Bears defense gave up 24 points unanswered against a washed Russell Wilson. So things look awful for the Bears right now.

Now what do they do now? Well not much, this season like so many others is probably a wash. The Bears are projected for the 1st overall pick this year and the 2nd as well from Carolina. So that is the silver lining as it always is for Chicago. It was last year when they got the 1st pick but they traded it away to Caroliona to get D.J. Moore. Moore has been fine this season so the trade wasn’t that bad. But the Bears need to do something drastic for their future. Because it has been bleak for so long, and the city of Chicago has been long starved for a good football team. They got a taste in 2019 but the infamous ‘Double Doink’ happened. And nothing good has happened since then. So Chicago needs to pray that their draft picks this year pan out, because the cycle of misery has gone far too long for the Bears and their fans.
