Victor Wembanyama is an Alien

Victor+Wembanyama+is+an+Alien

In Jujutsu Kaisen, when Gojo Satoru was born he shifted the balance of the whole world because he was that powerful. That is what it feels like watching Victor Wembanyama play in his rookie year. Now everyone with a brain knew he was gonna be good. He has been a pro in Europe since he was a teen, and more notably he’s 7 foot 4 and has the wingspan of a jet plane. He also is absurdly mobile for someone as tall as a skyscraper. And if that wasn’t crazy enough, he can shoot the ball at a pretty good clip. So basically, he’s a 2K create-a-player.

But I really don’t think anyone thought that he would be this good this early. People expected to see growing pains early. But no, he’s averaging 20 points, 10 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal, and 3 blocks. He’s efficient too: as he’s shooting 46% from the field and 33% from three. Reminder that this is his first year in the league. Also, he was on a minutes restriction for most of the year. So these stats are barely scratching the surface of his potential. We’re looking at a ceiling of a taller Kevin Durant on offense and a more mobile Rudy Gobert on defense. Which is the scariest combo I’ve ever heard.

It’s a shame that the Spurs right now are absolutely pathetic at basketball. The team lacks a true point guard now and they for some reason don’t pass the ball to the alien on their team. But the Spurs are still rebuilding so I wouldn’t be too worried. And if the rumors of Trae Young to San Antonio are true, then the league truly is screwed. That pick and roll has the potential to be even greater than Kobe and Shaq. I know it might sound like I’m getting way ahead of myself but Victor Wembanyama’s potential is that sky high. And to the people who say Chet Holmgren is better because his team wins, if you put Wembanyama on OKC they do as good or better than the team with Chet. Chet is on the 1st seed in the west with a MVP candidate in Shai-Gilgeous Alexander, of course the Thunder would be better than the rebuilding Spurs.

The Spurs won’t be this bad for long however, so you guys should enjoy the time we have before the Spurs start another dynasty. Wembanyama landed in the perfect scenario, like Mahomes to Kansas City perfect. San Antonio since Greg Poppovich arrived has been for the most part one of the most steady organizations in the league. Poppovich when he had Duncan, Parker, and Manu dominated the league for two decades. Now he has a player that has a higher ceiling than all 3 of those players. We can only imagine the potential that the Wembanyama Spurs have for the next decade. Earlier I compared Wemby to Gojo, now Gojo was slain by the one known as the King of Curses, so maybe King James will slow down Wemby’s roll before he retires. But who am I kidding? We are in for the Wembanyama show for the next decade so strap in and enjoy the ride.
