Common App to be Replaced
Similar to the satirical publication The Onion, The Kumquat’s goal is to enlighten via satire and humor.
“The Common Application will soon be a thing of the past,” announced CEO Paul Mott on a live web conference from the company yacht last Monday. After hearing multiple complaints about how the college application process was too easy, and not selective enough, Mott decided the Common App was frankly just outdated.
“We at the Common Application have heard your concerns, and decided to change the name of our company from Common App, to Uncommon App,” said Mott.
With this change, the Uncommon Application will require neither essays nor any scholastic information. This will be replaced by a section in which applicants must upload their favorite GIF and another in which applicants must reach a score of 100 in Flappy Bird.
“In this internet age, colleges are looking for unique individuals. We felt the Common App could not accomplish this goal. We are certain the Uncommon App will,” said Mott.
The new moniker is not the only change the company will enact. Mott has also transitioned the company from a non-profit organization to a for-profit corporation.
Mott declined to comment as to the legality of this change.
