Cafeteria to Begin Serving Wildebeest
Similar to the satirical publication The Onion, The Kumquat’s goal is to enlighten via satire and humor.
In a move to bring uniqueness to school menu options, the Towson High Cafeteria will begin to serve wildebeest starting next week. The wildebeest, also known as the gnu, will be cooked in limited trials before ultimately being added to the Towson lunch menu.
“We think it’s a shame that really only chicken and beef are served,” said an unnamed cafeteria worker. “Hopefully students will really warm to the scrumptious flavor of exotic wildebeest.”
The wildebeest, which will be directly imported from Tanzania, will be cooked into hearty stews or fried with onions. Wildebeest meat, which is described as similar to beef, is expected to sell well. If the meal is popular, it will become a mainstay on the Towson Cafeteria menu.
“I can’t wait to try wildebeest,” said senior Adam Cines. “It’s pretty dumb how the average American really only eats beef, pork, and chicken. We ought to expand our palette,” he added.
This might not be the only menu change at Towson: ostrich and zebra meat may be introduced later into the year. There already preparations to add haggis and fried locusts.
When asked what side he would pare with the wildebeest, Cines replied “probably Doritos.”
