Ladies of Distinction

Ladies of Distinction is a co group of young women found by Ms. Kogelschatz and a group of Towson girls that came together in order to motivate, empower, uplift and validate minorities within the Towson community. We help each other overcome obstacles and stereotypes that young women struggle with. The group offers guidance to anyone who needs it.

We meet every Wednesday morning before class. The vibes are very cool, calm, and easy-going. You are able to voice your opinions and vent while being completely truthful. There aren’t many requirements in order to be apart of the group; however, it’s a non-violent group so fighting is not allowed and the ladies cannot be failing more than two classes. As a whole, the group is very beneficial to the entire community. We are simply showing people that we have to work together in order to represent each other while being supportive.

The group has participated in a few service projects, such as planting a garden in front of the school, helping clean our campus, and traveling to Dumbarton Middle School to talk to upcoming freshman about the group. We do not force people to join the group, but we highly recommend participation. Our conversation topics revolve around anything from being a black women in America to the stereotypes society places on other races.

Poetically speaking: We are women

We are recognizably diverse in nature

We are proficient

We are cultivated

We are fierce

We are intensifying our capabilities of having a sturdy mentality

Poetically speaking: We symbolize a culture that

has been deprived by a stereotypical dispute

We will achieve the unfulfilled objectives

We will prosper in order to eradicate an obscene label

We will advance our ability of being opinionated

Poetically speaking: Our attitude defines our demeanor of being “something”

but the determination of being effective

In an (victimized) unstable culture complicated the minds of many

However the inspiration and antiquity of our ethic

Offers a motive to signify a great creation
