Towsonolabokaflod
Towson High School has been plastered with news of a flood. A book flood, that is.
It’s Towsonolabokaflod.
Iceland’s Jolabokaflod (“Christmas Book Flood”) is an annual tradition where Icelandic publishers release hundreds of new titles into the market. The tradition calls for a gathering of friends and family to exchange books and read together.
The Towson High School English department created this project, spearheaded by Ms. Fluharty and Mrs. Flynn, with the goal of promoting literacy by having students read for enjoyment. On December 21st and December 22nd, all English classes will have students read a book of their choice. The reading will be accompanied with snacks and drinks.
Are you eager to participate but you’re unsure of what literary work to read? Located in the library, there is a book recommendation list from the National English Honors Society.
I encourage you to grab a book, sit down, relax, and enjoy the first ever Towsonolabokaflod.
