An Open Letter to Christmas Music Haters
Dear all Christmas Music Haters of the World,
Yes, I am that girl who listens to Christmas music as soon as Halloween ends. It’s not just my love for the holiday season that has me blasting the famous voice of Mariah Carey, but the feeling of magical instruments and tunes.
From the second I hear even one little sleigh bell, I’m ready to perform a private concert containing loud vocals and my own original choreography. The nostalgia of my sweet childhood comes rushing back when I hear Brenda Lee’s “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree” or Elvis’ “Blue Christmas.”
Although I get some heat for my early-set Christmas excitement, I am not ashamed. When I listen to these songs I feel all warm and fuzzy inside, and the happiness I feel is worth any hate I get for my music choices. The songs bring me joy only the holiday season can provide, and I will always be a lover of Christmas music.
Christmas music can be a savior. It has helped me focus on the most confusing school assignments and has brought my joyous mood back after a fight with my mom. To all the cynics who just think Christmas music is lame and a reminder of the holiday that is just too “commercial,” simply remember the real meaning of Christmas and that right there is why I love it.
I used to secretly hide my adoration for the holiday music, but as I’ve grown there is nothing to hide from. For all you Debby Downers out there, I just don’t understand how these songs don’t give you a thrill.
But whatever… live a life of Christmas music-less sorrow. I hope one day you can find something that brings you as much glee as Christmas music brings me!
Merry Christmas, ya filthy animals.
Love,
A Forever Christmas Music Lover
