The Towson High men’s golf team looks to continue their success this year as they have four returning players from last year. After graduating top seniors Aidan Ryan, Ryan Lawrence, and Alton Curry, the Generals still have some work to do the rest of the season.

The team still has some firepower, as 2015 district qualifiers Conner Brown and Burke Harman return. Alongside of them will be Sean Lawrence and Dyson Adams who return for their 3rd straight year on the squad. These four, without doubt, are the most experienced on the team. Along with four returning juniors, the team added two seniors and three sophomores.

The team has bonded together well and has created a brotherhood for beyond the golf course. One of the newcomers this year is senior Mike Sassano. Mike has made the transition from the football field to the golf course and has enjoyed his time on the team. When asked about the season so far he stated, “Everyone has played at a high level and performed well. I’m looking forward to a fun and successful end to the season.”

After participating in The County tournament, which was changed to the middle of the season this year, The Generals proved to still provide quality golf.  Sophomore Ryan Walsh put up an 83, while junior duo Burke Harman and Sean Lawrence shot 87 and 88 respectively. These three and others look to use this as a stepping stone into Districts.

Off the course, the Generals have team dinners every few weeks to have some fun and get to know each other better. Junior Dyson Adams said, “I love team dinners; it’s always fun to hang out with the team and eat a ton of great food, and it’s always a great time.”

Some might turn away when they hear about the golf team, but the team has meshed together well and have been tough to break all year. When asked about his thoughts on golf, Junior Sean Lawrence stated, “The team is more than golf – were all great friends, and all able joke around on and off the course. This helps us loosen up a little bit, and be more successful when it comes time for matches and tournaments.”

The Generals look to channel their friendship into victories and great play throughout the rest of the season.
