Field Hockey Seniors Finish Strong, Say Goodbye
Varsity field hockey seniors Cate Amos, Elise Adams, Morgan Merrill, and Jamesy Wood finished their final season strong, making it all the way to the regional finals and finishing with a solid record of 8/8. Cate Amos says she was “very satisfied with the season,” as the team “played very competitive games against our rivals, Hereford and Dulaney.” The Dulaney game was especially intense, as the Lions and the Generals duked it out at the Goucher College field. Fans from far and wide came out to watch the close match, but the Lions got the upper hand with a close 1-0 win. The Towson team, however, was not disheartened as they felt they had played one of the best games of the season.
The most exciting game, perhaps, was the regional playoff game against Franklin High. With the home team advantage, Towson clenched a 2-0 win over the Indians. The regional final game against Bel Air was another close loss of 1-0, but all the field hockey players ended the season with their heads held high, proud of all the hard work and tough playing that had carried them to the regional finals.
For the seniors, this was certainly a final season to brag about. Cate says of the group, “the four of us had so much fun leading the team together. Being seniors, we got a lot of respect from the rest of the team.” But Cate doesn’t plan on ending her field hockey career just yet. She plans to play either in Division III for Washington College or on a club team with Clemson University. We wish Cate and all other senior Generals luck on and off the field in the years to come!
