Soccer Brings Buddies Together
Towson High school offers extra-curricular activities for all students. One of these activities includes allied soccer. Allied sports allow students with disabilities to participate in interscholastic activities with other peers to create new friendships and to form bonds. The allied sports program was implemented in Baltimore County in the 1994 school year. The program offers fall soccer, winter bowling, and spring softball. The allied sports program’s goals are to help students build self-esteem, acquire new sports skills, gain new friends, and improve physical fitness. This past fall, led by coach Dugovich, THS’s allied soccer team participated in the Pumpkin Bowl, a series of eight games in September and November. They allied soccer team finished up the season with an astonishing record: seven wins, one tie, and no losses. This winter, we can look forward to cheering on the allied sports team in their upcoming bowling tournament!
