Graduation Thoughts
Being a senior in high school is not an easy thing. Although it’s your last year in high school and supposed to be fun, there are stressful things seniors go through. They have to worry about prom, what they want to do after high school, and of course graduation.
Graduation itself can be a little overwhelming, but it’s the long weeks and months waiting for it that can really stress people out. There’s a lot of thinking and planning ahead of time for graduation. This constant thinking can cause people to experience a variety of emotions. Seniors Henri Jones, Christina Tancredi, and Andrea Faulkner all said they are excited to graduate. Henri specifically said, “I’m pretty excited for graduation since I’ve been working all four years and now I’m finally going to see the benefits and joy of graduating” Christina and Andrea on the other hand are going through multiple feelings like excitement, nervousness, anxiety, and anticipation.
Graduating high school means leaving memories, accomplishments, even people behind. Henri and Andrea both said they will miss being a part of a sports team or club when they leave. Henri clearly said, “Being part of the Towson sports teams are what I will miss the most, it was always a fun experience since it taught me so much about life and met friends that will be with me for the rest of my life” Christina said the thing she will miss are some of the people she met here.
Every senior has fears or worries about how his/her life will be after graduation, if they say they don’t, then they’re lying. People may have similar worries or completely different ones, but it’s normal to experience these fears before a big transition. Henri said, “Graduating is definitely a big step, what worries me most is figuring out what major in college will be best for me” Christina said, “I am terrified about how I am going to pay for college.” Andrea related by saying she’s worried about “Adjusting to college life, failure/wasting time, and money” Although their worries aren’t all the same, they each have to go through theirs in order to improve.
Graduation can be a scary and nerve-racking event, but at the end of the day it’s supposed to be a celebration for the seniors. Some people just want to get it over with, but many people are looking forward to the day like Henri, Christina, and Andrea. Henri said, “I am looking forward to graduation since me and my friends get to show off the work we’ve done to our friends and we finally get to celebrate” Graduation is a ceremony, it’s supposed to be fin and iconic for the seniors. Hopefully they enjoy the day and strive for long successful lives after high school.
