Towson’s first-ever spring pep-rally!

Dust off your pom-poms and get out your spirit week gear, because Towson is holding its first ever spring pep rally on April 7th, right before spring break. The pep rally will celebrate the spring sports and highlight different extracurriculars that take place at Towson.

The planning is underway and ideas are being thrown around about having different competitions, like tug-a-war or relay races between grades and even teachers. Of course, there will be dancing and cheers to boost school spirit. At the end of the pep rally, students will come out on the turf and spell “THS.” An overhead photo will be taken to commemorate the moment. Afterwards, there will be a senior send-off, since this is their last big event as a school.

Just as we have in fall, you can’t have a pep rally without a spirit week. The days are as follows:

Monday, April 3: ‘Merica Monday

Tuesday, April 4: Salad Dressing Day

freshmen: blue cheese (wear all blue)

sophomores: ranch dressing (dress up like farmers)

    juniors: thousand island (tourists)

     seniors: Caesar dressing (togas)

Wednesday, April 5: Tacky Tourist Day

Thursday, April 6: Nerds v. Jocks

Friday, April 7: Towson Friday   .

For the fall homecoming pep really, each class was assigned a section of the hallway to decorate; however, this time around, each class will get a 9 foot long banner to decorate with their respective class colors and slogans. The banners will be hung up in the hallway the morning of the pep rally and will be taken down to be hung up where each class sits.

There will be plenty of activities to participate in at this pep rally. One of these is the “lipdub” that is currently being planned. A lipdub is a lip sync video featuring a large group with the intent to show school spirit. They were popular back in 2014 and 2015, but we’re bringing it back to show other schools what we’re made of.

As a way to show your school spirit, make sure you’re participating in spirit week and showing everyone you’re a proud Towson General!
