The Marching Generals Family

On Saturdays, Towson High School students and families cheer on their football team and are treated to some tunes by the Towson Marching Generals. The marching band provides familiar game-day music along with an entertaining halftime performance. They receive rave reviews, as junior Nick Testoni expresses: “They keep us entertained in-between plays and bring the enthusiasm that we sometimes lack.” The quality of their performance is not only a result of the endless practices, but also the close relationships maintained between each member of the band.

Junior percussionist Sean Robinson described the band as “extremely close,” which shows on game-days as they always sport smiles on their faces for the entirety of the football contests. Though the football team may not be having the best of days, the band seems to stay positive and keep a jubilant attitude – a true showcase of their love for the band. Keeping a tight knit bond assists in keeping time and playing as one unit.

The Marching Generals develop a strong bond during their after school practices. Sean Robinson shared that the main factor in strengthening their relationship was how much fun they have during the practices. He pointed out a little activity he particularly enjoys, “People make stupid puns about instruments.” This humorous tiny detail is just a small part in how this marching family came to be.

Seeing the band after school practicing and performing on Saturdays, it is apparent that they truly do have a passion for what they do and they are fortunate to have many others who share the same passion. That mutual passion creates a bond between a group of people that is seemingly unbreakable. The Towson Marching Generals really love what they do and the people they share the experience with, and they truly are a family.
