Baltimore County Musical Season
You all know by now that the Towson High School theatre department is performing High School Musical this spring, but have you ever wondered what the other Baltimore County high school musicals are? With the musical season coming up, this spring is the perfect time to see some and find out!
If you’re interested in seeing what our rival school is up to, Dulaney High School is performing Beauty and the Beast. As well as their regular showings, there is also a pre-matinee tea party for kids at noon on the last day. Come see the “tale as old as time” on March 17th, 18th, or 19th.
Of the other Baltimore County Public Schools, Eastern Tech is performing Guys and Dolls from March 17th to 19th. In addition to the “preview night” on Thursday, the school is also doing a dinner theatre Friday and Saturday night, where you can pay $10 extra for tickets to eat dinner with the show. Patapsco High School is putting on The Addams Family from March 17th to 19th, as well as the Robber Bridegroom from May 21st to 24th. As Patapsco is a center for the arts with a theater magnet program, these two musicals are bound to be great!
Many of the nearby private schools are also putting on their own musicals. Gilman is performing The Addams Family from April 28th to May 1st, and Friends School is putting on Oklahoma! from May 13th to 15th. One musical you especially shouldn’t miss is Calvert Hall’s West Side Story, the weekends of April 8th and April 15th; not only is it considered one of the best musicals of all time, but Towson’s own Lillian Blank is playing the female lead, Maria!
While it is important to support other schools’ theatre departments by seeing their shows, don’t forget to come to High School Musical the evenings of April 14th, 15th, and 16th, and to the special sing-along matinee the afternoon of the 17th!
