The Word!

Towson has a wide variety of clubs and teams, so whether you enjoy hands-on activities, helping others, or writing, Towson has a club for you. The Word is a club exclusively for young writers.

The writers meet every Wednesday in room 308 right after school for about forty-five minutes to an hour. About half a dozen students participate in The Word, but they are always looking for new members.

Mrs. D’ortone encourages people to come and write. It’s an easy way to practice, learn, and write strong essays in order to prepare you for the future. A joint student-faculty effort manages to make their writing sessions both entertaining and enjoyable.

“I really enjoy being able to write and express my opinions in my writing. Also, by being part of The Word. I have learned the correct form of writing and now I am able to write a lot regardless of the genre,” says Olivia Watkins, junior.
