Starting the New Issue out Write
On Friday, May 15th, the long awaited 49th issue of Towson’s literary magazine, The Colophon was finally distributed to the general public. Fresh off the press, the issue was filled with amazing illustrations, enthralling stories, a short drama, and thought-provoking poetry.
The issue was labeled “Triptych” which is defined as a type of fine art where three canvases of a certain medium attach to each other. To go along with this idea, the front illustration features three triangles, each with its own aesthetic qualities.
To kick off its release, the staff hosted a public reading on Friday night in the library. Doors opened at 7pm, and at the height of the event, there were an estimated forty people in attendance. Writers from all grades read their works surrounded by the original art pieces that appeared in the book.
This year, the Colophon staff welcomed three new advisors: Nick Busselman, Noah Belt, and Andrew Freeburger. The magazine’s managing editor, recent graduate Heather Seyler, claimed that “It was a fantastic end to Colophon’s first year with new advisors.”
