Holiday Boxes for Boys and Girls

The holiday season is finally starting to roll around, and if you’re feeling particularly generous this December, Towson’s Spanish Honor Society is collaborating with the Cuirim House Outreach program to send small gift boxes to underprivileged elementary-school-aged children in Nogales, Mexico. It costs ten dollars to ship, plus as much as you’d like to spend stuffing the box with necessities and toys. They ask that you do not include actual toothpaste or food as it’s hard to ship; but toothbrushes, socks, and small toys are recommended box-stuffers. After the box is sealed and ready to send off to Mexican children eagerly awaiting some holiday cheer, you should denote somewhere on the box if it should be given to a boy or girl. Deadlines are the 10th of December, so get out to Target today to buy to your heart’s content—it will make a child’s holiday season that much better!

If you’re interested, head down to Mrs. Richmond’s room (212) to get a box, and return it there along with ten dollars when it’s ready to ship. Take this holiday season as an opportunity to do something positive for Mexican children who are accustomed to receiving much less than we do.
