The Astros Win 2022 World Series

Much to the chagrin of everyone in America who doesn’t live in Houston, the Astros win the 2022 World Series in 6 games. The Phillies had their chance, but ultimately just could not do it.

It looked great for Philly at first, winning Game 1 off the back of a J.T. Realmuto home run in the 10th. Houston bounced back in Game 2 evening up the series heading to Philly. Game 3 was all Philly; they hit 5 home runs and crushed the Astros 7-0. Bryce Harper, Brandon Marsh, Alec Bohm, Kyle Schwarber, and Rhys Hoskins all hit home runs in a dominant showing. This put the Phillies 2-1 in the series, but then they got ice cold. They got no-hit in Game 4 and lost a close game in Game 5 to suddenly be down 3-2 in the series. Jeremy Pena and Jose Altuve led the way for Houston in those games.

Game 6 was the closeout game. Kyle Schwarber hit a home run to put the Phillies up but a Yordan Alvarez 3-run bomb in the 6th put the game away. The Astros finally win another World Series. They can finally say they won a completely legitimate championship. That 2017 cheating scandal is getting more and more irrelevant each year.

The Astros are a legit championship winning team, whether people like it or not. This win meant the most to Manager Dusty Baker, who had been in baseball for decades as a player and manager. He held the title for Manager with most wins without a World Series title. But finally, he can say he’s won a World Series. As for the losers, the Phillies were not supposed to be anywhere near the World Series. But they made the miracle run and just went cold at the wrong time. Going into the offseason, the Phillies must work on consistency. And with Rob Tompson getting his first full year as manager, I believe that can happen.
