Towson Varsity Basketball Clash with Rival Dulaney to Launch Season
The long awaited basketball season has finally arrived. The Towson Generals kick off the season with an encounter against their arch-rival, the Dulaney Lions. The game is set for Wednesday, December 7th at Towson. The girls team open up at 4:00 and the boys follow at 5:30.
The girls are coming off one of their best seasons in recent history. They boasted a 17-3 record but their season came to an end at the regional finals when they were defeated by the girls from the Baltimore Polytechnic Institute. There is much optimism that they can keep the ball rolling into the new season.
Last season, the lady Generals defeated Dulaney 41-33. The Towson supporters are looking for the girls to repeat the victory this year.
The 5:30 game marks the anticipated boys’ game. The undersized Towson team is already marked down as the underdogs, making a victory taste even sweeter. Towson historically has not done well against Dulaney, losing 98-50 and 121-48 in the last two seasons. Junior point guard Nick Testoni shared his feelings about the upcoming contest: āIām a little nervous; butterflies in my stomach, but I am excited.ā
The energy of the home crowd could be the boost that the team needs to overcome the Dulaney basketball powerhouse.
This calls for your typical high-energy Towson-Dulaney encounters. The chants and cheers of the fans will be out in full force. The noise of the gym could break a decibel scale. But this time the Generals are hosting the contest. This is the first time in three years the Towson gym will see a Towson-Dulaney game. The bleachers are expected to be roaring, rocking, and rowdy.
Tickets are on sale for $5 and can be purchased from athletic director, Mr. Nash. Go get your ticket and come out to support your varsity basketball teams. Be sure to be energetic and show off your Towson pride.
