The Thrill of Concerts

Concerts are a time when seas of people come together to listen and sing their souls out to bands or singers they listen to everyday. You can be next to complete strangers but the music has a way of bringing people together. There’s a reason people spend hundreds to thousands of dollars on two hour shows, for the experience of a lifetime.

This past year I have attended quite a few concerts like Selena Gomez, Ellie Goulding, Carrie Underwood, Keith Urban, and Alessia Cara. Each time I go to a concert, I say it’s the best concert I’ve ever been to because they keep getting better and better. A cool feature about concerts is that the venue is different every time. Some of them are outside like Ellie Goulding, which was at the Merriweather Post Pavilion, and others are inside like Alessia Cara, which was in a small club venue called Rams Head.

In my opinion, one of the best parts about concerts is meeting new people. Whenever I stand in line for hours, I always make friends with the people around me and they come from all over the world. One girl I met was from New York and had mix-matched bracelets on her arm all the way up to her elbow, each one she got from a different concert she’s been too. I even met a girl that was from London who was seeing one of my favorite English bands, “Oh Wonder”. We talk about all of our favorite songs from the artists seeing that night and by the end of the concert, I have a handful of new friends from all over the world.

But when the concert starts, the lights go out and the crowd instantly screams, you know your favorite artist or band is about to step on stage. Everyone’s heart is pounding, waiting to find out the first song of the night. Music then bursts out of the speakers and the drummers and guitar players start playing their instruments. Once the artists sings, the crowd goes wild and sings every lyric to every song. The ground shakes from the base of the music and you can literally feel the music inside of you. Everyone in the room is connected by one artist and that’s a pretty amazing thing to experience.

Concerts give me such a rush of energy and happiness, and that’s what makes me go back to them. You get to gain amazing experiences that you remember for a lifetime and concerts are truly something everyone should experience in their lifetime.
