Facebook “Dislike” Button in the Works

Facebook “Dislike” Button in the Works

This is the moment we’ve all been waiting for. Facebook founder, Mark Zuckerberg, has approved the idea of the long-awaited “dislike” button.  Users will be able to express their disapproval with a post without having to comment with nasty remark or reporting the post.

During an interview with CNBC, Zuckerberg said, “People have asked about the ‘dislike’ button for many years, and probably hundreds of people have asked about this, and today is a special day because today is the day that I actually get to say we are working on it, and are very close to shipping a test of it.”

Zuckerberg addressed what everyone has been wanted for years: “What [users] really want is the ability to express empathy. Not every moment is a good moment.” Precisely. People want to be able to articulate their dislike of some posts.

Facebook has been striving for this “dislike” button for a while now but they have just now decided to take the plunge; however, they do have some reservations. What if a large number of people dislike a business or company which, in turn, causes them to remove their advertisements, costing Facebook money? What if the new button fuels the fire of teen bullying over social media? These are the questions people at Facebook are pondering, but, only time will tell.

The release date and exactly how the button will work have not officially been released yet. The details of this new feature will be released within the next few weeks. So keep your eyes peeled, Facebookers.

With over a billion users worldwide, Facebook never ceases to come up with new and improved features to keep their users happy and posting.
