The music hallway was full of excitement when the members of the 2014 all-state ensembles were revealed. After an agonizing two weeks of waiting, the results finally came out on December 4th, and they held a lot of good news for Towson.

Overall, twenty people from band, chorus, and orchestra made all-state, an unusually large number of people for these selective ensembles. Below is the list of the students who were selected.

Juniors Luke Powers, trumpet, and Leo Sarbanes, oboe, placed as first chair for their respective instruments in the orchestra, meaning they are first in the entire state.

“It’s great to see that all your hard work paid off,” remarks junior Yuzhu Shi, who made second chair flute in the orchestra. “Especially when you think about how many other kids auditioned throughout the state.”

If you see any of these students, or directors Mr. Rhen, Mr. Olin, and Mr. Jackson, be sure to congratulate them on this outstanding accomplishment.
